Are you Part of the Problem? The Answer May Surprise you.
So I haven’t made any posts really on my personal pages or whatever about everything that’s going on. Mostly because I figured anyone who would bother reading it would just be like “I agree!” and also I just think it’s much better to support black businesses and donate. But unfortunately, too many of y’all are just still not getting it. Drew Brees didn’t even get it, and he’s basically the mayor of New Orleans. So here’s just a quick guide to find out if you’re part of the problem. Hope it helps at least one of you reading this.
If you still think “All Lives Matter”
Hey man, no fucking shit. Of course they do: BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT! I seriously don’t understand how you can say that and be surprised when people think it’s insensitive and racist. But if you’re still confused somehow, here’s an example: If you had a basket of apples, and for no good reason every so often a cop would just pick up an apple and shoot it with a gun, you’d be pretty mad. You might even say “Hey man, could you stop shooting my apples?” That wold be an understandable thing to say. So then when you’re neighbor who’s got a big ‘ol basket of perfectly unshot bananas, who the cop loves by the way, is suddenly like, “Yeah man, don’t shoot any of our fruit!” You might be a little confused. He’s not shooting his fruit. And if your neighbor wanted to support you, why not ask the cop to stop shooting the apples specifically? Why keep giving the cop more money with which to shoot apples with bigger guns? Why does your neighbor also suspiciously only seem to care about this issue when something like this happens? And why is it so damn hard for your neighbor to understand that you’re the one being affected by it and could really use their help? Was this analogy helpful? Did you find it stupid comparing this situation to apples and bananas? Well I may have to agree with you, but it’s no stupider than saying “All Lives Matter”
If you think Colin Kaepernick’s protest had anything to do with the flag or the military.
Now this one really annoys me because you have to be so ignorant, and so willing to believe anything Trump and his cronies say to get behind this one. Literally in the postgame interview after the FIRST GAME he took a knee before, he said it had nothing to do with that. And yet just because an angry orange man says it’s disrespectful and offensive to the flag blah blah blah, y’all have to blacklist a guy who’s actually pretty good at his job. Also just for fun, let’s say it was about the flag, is a piece of fabric more important to you than human lives? If so please never speak to me or my family ever again. I don’t want my dog having to hear your jaded thoughts.
If you’re concerned about target being looted.
Were you one of those people in number 2 who values the flag over human lives? Ooh than I bet you also value toasters and reasonably priced blu rays over human life as well. Do I even need to explain this one? Hey! Dumb Dumb, a man was murdered in the street by a police officer while 3 other dudes watched. I think that’s a little more important than a few shopping carts getting roughed up.
If you posted a picture of a black square and called it a day
Hey you wanna maybe actually do something though? I mean I haven’t really done much myself and I realize that, but if you think that one instagram post is gonna fix anything than frankly I don’t know why you read this whole thing. There are protests happening everywhere, so go to one. Now I could post links to black owned businesses or places to donate but I won’t do that. If you care enough you’ll look those up yourself. Now I work for a black owned business but I doubt anyone who took the time to read this has money for high end shoe furniture, if you are though I guess hit me up.
So I really do hope this helped somebody, sorry for swearing if you’re reading this and your my mother.
